Club meetings provide an opportunity to meet other members, visit, and share stories about
the hobby. The meeting is also the place to get your vote in about decisions that affect
our club. Late breaking news that was not covered in the newsletter may also be available
at the meeting.
A typical meeting includes transaction of official club business, usually followed by a
guest speaker or some other form of program, then a break for refreshments and visiting. We
usually reconvene for more club business, introduction of new members, door prizes, and
raffles.
Some meetings are highlighted by special events, such as our ice cream social, silent
auction, pot lucks, and our December election.

If you are interested in rock hounding then our field trips are the place to be. Field
trips are usually each weekend, starting in late Fall and running through early Spring.
Most are on Saturday and are one day in duration, although we do have some overnight trips.
Nearby accommodations are usually available for non-campers. Provisions vary from site to
site but normally include a rock hammer, bag, plenty of drinking water, and lunch. Details
for what is need for any particular field trip are included on the field trip calendar.
Field trips are always fun and usually yield some nice material to work with. The current
field trip schedule can be found at the back of this month's newsletter.
As members of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, all club members agree
to abide by the AFMS Code
of Ethics.
